Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I make an appointment?
Simply call the main office at 410-281-1334. The intake person will get some information from you and then refer you to an office near where you work or live.
- Where are you located?
Family and Children’s EAP has offices in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Harford, Carroll and Howard County.
- Will my employer know that I came?
Your visit and what you talk about is kept strictly confidential. The EAP staff will not divulge anything about your visit to your employer or anyone else. Two exceptions would be if you divulged to the counselor that you abused a child or threatened to harm someone or yourself. Then the counselor would be obligated to tell the appropriate authorities, according to Maryland State law.
- My supervisor has told me I have to come to the EAP. What will you tell her about my visit?
Your supervisor will be told whether you keep your appointment and if you accept the counselor’s treatment recommendation. The supervisor will not be told what you say during the session, unless you divulge information that indicates an imminent threat to someone or yourself.
- How long will the session take?
The initial session is approximately fifty minutes. You will be asked a lot of questions and then the counselor will tell you their recommendation to address the problem.
- Who can use the program?
Eligible employees and immediate family members may use the program.
- I came last year? Can I come again this year?
Yes. Every year when the contract is renewed, employees become eligible again for the number of sessions allotted.
