Supervisory Consultation and Training
The EAP offers telephone consultation to supervisors
about employees for whom they have a concern or advice
about how to confront an employee they have decided to
refer to the EAP because of job performance. Often a
supervisor will want to discuss a problem employee with
someone to help think about how they will approach the
employee or what they will say if the employee offers
resistance. Through this type of service, it is possible
to encourage supervisors to suggest referral, at an early
stage, of an employee developing a job performance or
personal problem before the problem requires discipline.
Also available is training for supervisors on how to
recognize, confront and refer a troubled employee. This
training can be from one to three hours and can be provided
on-site.
